ColorBall – A prototype game for Sifteo Cubes

I wanted to participate to the experimental gameplay project and the january’s theme is about making a game for Sifteo cubes.

I didn’t hear about Sifteo cubes until that and I am very surprised by the idea. I think it smartly melt video games and former artifact based games.

So I downloaded the free SDK and prototyped my game. I found that the SDK is easy to use thanks to the exemple projects. But, Sifteo cubes can only play tracker music and I did not yet succeed to create a tracker that sounds properly on the simulator.

After a week of development, I have built this prototype :

It currently use up to three cubes, but the concept can be extended to any number of cubes. The game can be really funny when you reach levels with multiple balls : multiple player can solve the global puzzle simultaneously !

If I pass the first selection, I will add a random mode to generate a level over the active cubes, improve the overall aesthetics with better animations, graphics and sounds.
